Veterans Day Assembly

November 11, 2016

On Friday, Nov. 11, the MCS fifth graders with the guidance of their teacher, Mrs. Glenda Bedard, led an all-school assembly to honor the nation’s veterans.

The assembly began with the brass section of the Mater Christi School band playing the National Anthem. This was followed by several tributes to US veterans, including a video of each of the students posing with memorials to Vermont veterans. Mrs. Bedard had given her students an unusual assignment.

They were asked, with their parents considerable help, to find a veterans’ monument located in their area, have a picture taken of themselves standing near the memorial and then to email the picture to their teacher.

The fifth graders and their families were intrigued with the assignment and admitted that in the process of searching out local veterans’ monuments, they had discovered some interesting facts about the State of Vermont.
