“And Now for Something Completely Different”

Monty Python was a British surreal comedy group which created the sketch comedy show Monty Python’s Flying Circus. The show first aired on the BBC on October 5, 1969. Forty-five episodes were made over four series. In 1971, a film based on the series was made and titled And Now for Something Completely Different.

The Mater Christi 7th graders chose several of the sketches from “And Now for Something Completely Different” to present to their parents and to other classes in the school.

The humorous satires had the audience in laughter throughout the two shows which were performed by the two homerooms. The two shows were unique in several ways because some of the sketches chosen differed, and because the sketches lent themselves to a variety of interpretations.

It was very evident that the students thoroughly enjoyed the entire process as well as learning the many skills relative to acting and to an understanding of a particular literary genre in British and American history.
