June 27, 2008
Dear Mater Christi Families,
We hope you are enjoying a more relaxed and restful schedule
and that you're able to negotiate some outside activities
between the raindrops! We look forward to our second year
in educational partnership with parents and students as we
strive to fulfill the Mercy Mission and reinforce our Core
Values.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in publishing
the 2008-2009 academic calendar. We have enclosed a copy for
your information and have added it to Mater Christi's website
as well. It highlights special events, vacations, celebrations
and opportunities for educational collaboration. Although
it is impossible to meet everyone's needs, we made every effort
to provide a practical balance for students and families.
As in the past, we ask that you try to schedule family vacations
so that they do not interfere with academic days.
The Mater Christi faculty and staff are dedicated to helping
each child achieve personal and educational excellence. In
our continued efforts to attain that goal, we have chosen
to adopt a trimester schedule of academic reporting next year,
as opposed to a quarterly report card. You will see the details
of the trimesters outlined in the calendar as well as outlined
below. In the past, students received report cards, quarterly,
with progress reports issued mid-way through each quarter.
Only during the first progress reporting time, were the teachers
asked to provide a written report for ALL students. Thereafter,
only significant changes were indicated by written report.
With the new trimester format, ALL students in grades 4-8
will receive progress reports during each reporting period
as well as the official trimester grade reports. They are
as follows:
Trimester 1 (August 27-November 25)
Progress Reports - October 17 Grade Reports - December 5
Trimester 2 (December 1-March 13)
Progress Reports - January 23 Grade Reports - March 20
Trimester 3 (March 16-June 17)
Progress Reports - May 1 Grade Reports - June 24
Thank you for your attention to this letter. We are excited
to offer this new reporting format which, we believe, will
promote quality instruction and enhanced communication between
home and school. If you have ANY questions about the calendar
or the trimester format, please do not hesitate to call the
school at 658-3992.
Sincerely,
Brent Tremblay Bev Broomhall
