Hillary Hee - MCS Class of 2006
Hillary Hee a junior at Rice Memorial High School was recently
featured in The Vermont Catholic Tribune for her co-creation
of a fashion show and sale to benefit a mission in Tacna,
Peru. The reason for Hillarys choice of Tacna comes
from a suggestion by Sr. Catherine Poirier who has spent the
last 17 years as a missionary in South America. A recent earthquake
left the community of Tacna without water, electricity, and
food.
Hillary and her mother, Katherine Hee came up with the idea
of collecting gently used clothing for a fashion show dubbed
Rice Reaches Out which took place on August 29
and 30. They collected clothing from the high school and several
Catholic elementary schools. This is a way for people
to see that people at Rice are aware of what goes on and are
supportive of our community, Hillary said of Rice High
School. Admission to the clothing sale was $1or an item of
nonperishable food.
Great idea, Hillary. We are proud of you!

You may have noticed the recent (Nov.07) article devoted
to Kyle Cieplicki in The Burlington Free Press Sports Section
. Kyle graduated from MCS in 1999. According to Free Press
writer, John Fantino, Kyle] the leader and has been for a
long time...he will have held the title [of captain] longer
than any other player in program history. 'On and off the
court he's definitely the guy everyone looks up to,' freshmen
guard Joey Accaoui said. 'He's the best Captain I've ever
had no doubt about it, and I've had some good captains over
the years,' said UVM head coach Mike Lonergan. 'He just gets
it.'" Kyle Cieplicki has appeared in 83 college games,
starting in 56 of these. Great accolades from both peers and
coaches. We are proud of you!

Union High School as Valedictorian of her class. Katie was

Other awards that Katie won earlier in the school year included
the Burton Cowgil Award from the New England Music Festival

She will be attending the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia
to major in Horn Performance.
Congratulations, Katie! We are proud of you!
Katie Jordan '04 recently was interviewed on VPR (107.9)
by host Christopher O'Reilly, a concert pianist. Katie, who
plays the French horn, has gained a reputation for her excellent
performance in the music field. One of the questions that
Mr. O'Reilly asked her about her years in middle school was
about sentence diagramming. He seemed to be very surprised
to hear from Kate that yes, indeed, she had experienced it
at length and has found it a helpful tool in writing ever
since!
