Bonjour! My name is Maddy Posig.

I graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in French. During my studies at UVM, I studied in Nice, France for three semesters at the Universite de Nice. I then received my M.Ed. in modern foreign languages from Boston University. I have taught at Mater Christi for 30 years. I have two grown children, Andrea & Wyatt, both of whom attended Mater Christi. My daughter lives in New York City and my son lives in Boston. My husband and I reside in Burlington.

This year I am teaching French to fourth, fifth and seventh graders.

4th & 5th grade: We are using a new method, called TPRS, to teach our fourth and fifth graders. This system mimics native language acquisition. Fourth graders have French four times a week for a half hour. Fifth graders have French five times a week for 42 minutes.

7th grade: Students in 7th grade have French five times a week for 42 minutes. The text we use is called Bon Voyage. Students use the same series for both 7th and 8th grades. At the end of this two-year sequence, most students are ready for French II in high school. Homework is assigned most nights.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. My email is mposig@mcschool.org. I can also be reached at school by phone. I am free to receive phone calls from 12:10-12:45 or after 3:00. I look forward to an exciting year teaching your children French!

Mater Christi School has three French teachers offering instruction from kindergarten - 8th grade.
