President’s Perspective: Priority Registration

February 3, 2017

Dear Mater Christi Families:

As we celebrate National Catholic Schools Week and the many wonderful students, parents, teachers, and programs that make up our school community, we are proud to begin our priority registration process for our current families for the 2017-18 school year.  As a Mercy school in the heart of Burlington, we have enjoyed a long history and look forward to a promising future as our school continues to evolve and grow to best serve the students entrusted to our care.  We have highly trained, professional, and dedicated teachers and staff who thoroughly love working with your children each day.  Your children are precious to us, and we feel fortunate that we are able to journey with them as they become scholars, musicians, artists, innovators, athletes, and young men and women for others!

Current families are asked to print and complete the attached 2017-2018 Registration and Tuition Agreement, and submit it along with a $300 per-student registration fee, to guarantee placement for next year.  If you are a current family that has a new student entering Mater Christi School for 2017-18, we ask that you also complete an application form and submit all other necessary paperwork and fees.  Information about new student admission can be found on our school’s website, mcschool.org under the admissions tab.  All registration paperwork and fees should be submitted to Jean Rock in our school office.

As we begin our priority registration process for current families for the 2017-18 school year, we would like to show our gratitude with a registration discount and gift. This year, current families who return their registration paperwork and payment by Friday, March 24, 2017, will pay last year’s student registration fee of $300 per student.  In addition, the first 50 families to return their registration and payment will be entered into a drawing to receive a $250 tuition credit for the 2017–18 academic year.

Determining accurate enrollment numbers and ensuring a place for all current students are among our critical concerns as we look ahead to the 2017-18 year.  We already have waiting lists for a number of grades for next year, and interest continues to bloom.  Furthermore, accurate enrollment numbers by late March enable us to extend contracts to our invaluable teachers and staff for the upcoming year.  We are confident that your trust in Mater Christi School and the promising future that lies ahead has solidified your decision to have your child(ren) continue with us in the fall.

Our Board of Trustees recently approved tuition rates and fees for the 2017–18 school year.  Tuition and fees will be as follows:

2017-18 Pre-School & Pre-Kindergarten Tuition

$8,392 – Full-time (5 days/week)
$7,553 – Part-time (4 days or less, half or full days)

2017-18 Kindergarten-Grade 8 Tuition

$8,267

Fees

$350* registration fee.

$100 Application fee for new students

$4.25 for lunch per day

$100** Athletic Fee per sport

$18/day for After School Care

$10/day for Before School Care

*As noted above, current families registering prior to Friday, March 24, 2017, pay $300 per student.  Please note that the per-student registration fee covers part of the costs associated with technology, books, supplies, materials, and equipment.

**Fees for basketball will be higher due to referee and league costs.  The actual fee will be set in the fall.

As a school founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, we never want a family to not be able to choose Mater Christi due to financial challenges. Tuition assistance is available to families with students in Kindergarten through grade eight. The Mater Christi school scholarship committee determines financial aid based on data collected by FACTS Management. Information about financial assistance as well as links to FACTS can be found on our school website. Please note that registration fees must be paid in order to be considered for tuition assistance. If the tuition assistance awarded is not sufficient to enable enrollment, the $300 registration fee will be refunded. Please carefully review the tuition assistance policy that can be found on our school’s website under the admissions tab.

If you should have any questions about registration for next year, please contact our school office and Mrs. Rock will direct you to the appropriate person who can answer your question.  Thank you for your continued support of Mater Christi School and your commitment to Mercy education. We are honored to work in partnership with you, and we look forward to working with your child(ren) again next year.

Sincerely,

Patrick A. Lofton, Ed.S
