Prudential Award

Each year middle school students are able to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award here at Mater Christi School.  This is a nationwide youth volunteer recognition program sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.  The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards represents America’s largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer service. Since 1995 the program has honored more than 125,000 youth volunteers at the local, state, and national level.

This year the administration along with classroom teachers named Natalia Stever our top youth volunteer for Mater Christi School.

Natalia has been volunteering since she was in the first grade.  She said that “community service has always been a big part of me and my family’s life.  It makes me feel overjoyed when I help others in need because I know I have impacted their life.”

Natalia participates each year in the COTS walk and had even slept outside for the Spectrum Sleep Out to experience what is it like to be homeless where she raised over $450.  Natalia has volunteered at the Vermont City Marathon handing out water to the runners as well as donating toiletries with her swim team to the Salvation Army and clothes to Goodwill.  In her application Natalia said “I will never stop helping others out because I have already made a place in my heart for helping people and that will never go away.”
