News: MLK Jr. Day at MCS

January 21, 2020

On MLK, Jr. Day, Mater Christi School gathers to remember, celebrate and serve. At the morning assembly, students spoke about heroes in history, from Elie Weisel to Ruby Bridges. Members of the sixth grade challenged the school to set its moral compass according to the universal standard as cited by the Golden Rule, and interpreted in global religions. Students then set their hands to work in service of others: elementary students in a project for COWS and older students made “tie blankets” to be donated to our friends at COTS. As the school honors Dr. King on this day, it produces a deep sense of meaning and joy.
